Hair salon logo: scissors beside a profile with flowing hair
The icon has two halves. On the left, a pair of hair scissors stands open with the blades pointing up, a white dot at the pivot and two ring handles at the bottom, one of them with a small finger rest. On the right, a woman's head in profile faces the scissors. Her hair is swept across the forehead, a thin white line picks out one strand in the fringe, and the rest falls in waves to below her chin. Scissors and hair together tell you it is a hair salon before you read the name.
The name is set in a serif with strong contrast between thick and thin strokes and a few decorative touches: the e has a slanted crossbar, the y ends in a short flat tail and the ampersand is a looped, calligraphic shape. A full stop follows Co. Underneath, Hair Salon is set in thin, plain capitals, much lighter than the name above it.
Nothing in the logo uses a second colour, a gradient or shading, so the artwork is already a one-colour version, the kind our guide to what a logo job should hand over says stamps and one-colour print need.
