Restaurant logo: a round badge with a flame, fork and spatula
At the centre is a black disc with a scalloped edge, like a bottle cap, and a white ring just inside the edge. On the disc, drawn in white, a flame burns above a two-pronged fork and a slotted spatula crossed in an X.
Around the disc the badge is built in arcs, one set over the top and one under the bottom. From the outside in, each set has a band of short gold ticks, a black line, the lettering and a thin gold line. The name, Taste and Bite, runs over the top in widely spaced capitals, and Food & Drink runs along the bottom in bolder ones. On the left and right, where the arcs stop, ESTD and 2015 sit between pairs of short black rules.
When the whole badge is shrunk to 98 x 98 pixels, the size at which YouTube shows a channel's profile picture, the flame, fork and spatula in the centre are still recognisable, but the lettering around them becomes too small to read. Our guide to logos and brand identity explains why a logo also needs a compact version, such as an icon, for spaces that small.
